Geographic Data (Maps)
The Federation of Alberta Naturalists
(FAN) has been and is actively involved in the collection
and management of volunteer gathered biological data. FAN
has now completed the cleaning and updating of this data.
A
map is now available for download with public domain GIS
information for Alberta.
FAN currently releases a 1:1,000,000 base map for Alberta with its Personal Birdlist Software. This basemap has been derived from public domain sources and is available as ESRI Shape files as this format is readily imported into most GIS and desktop mapping environments. Unless otherwise specified, provincial data is projected using the Alberta 10TM projection and uses the NAD27 datum. Below is a table of currently available information.
